Mihrimah, Itırsu and Badem need your help
Mihrimah has an infected tumor on her neck; she needs an operation immediately. Because of her pain she cries all night long. She is an old dog, at least 12 years old or maybe 14. She lost one of her legs years ago when they accused her for stealing a chicken. They’ve cut her leg with an axe and they’ve left her somewhere in the forest so that she could get killed. Serpil found her and she took good care of her until now. Badem is 10 years old. When she was 6 months old a car passed over her twice. Her spine was broken in 3 places. Despite this, she started walking in a year because she was a determined girl. She broke her leg in the summer of 2022. Right now her front leg is injured. She can’t even get up on her foot anymore. Itırsu is a rescued 10 years old terrier. Her mother was old and pregnant when she was thrown out of the dog breeding farm. Out of 6 puppies she gave birth to only Itırsu could survive. She had an uterine operation years ago and now she has a mammary tumor. If the tumor is not removed immediately it could easily spread around the body. So immediate action is needed. Serpil Koparan is a volunteer who takes care of 40 dogs and 30 cats in Anadolu Kavağı; far from here, in the north Anatolian coast of Istanbul. Together with Mihrimah there are two other dogs that need immediate care in that sanctuary. We will be sharing their stories too. We need to find supporters for these operations. Before and after the operations, the dogs should be transferred to the clinic and back. As we can not tell what is going to come out of the test results before and after the operation we can not estimate how much it will cost. So the supporters should be able to give financial support all through these stages. If the volunteer supporter wants to transfer the dog to a clinic they know Serpil is willing to accept it unless the clinic is not far away. There is a clinic near the sanctuary these dogs live in, yet again, we may have to find another clinic if this one’s equipment is not sufficient for the operation. As neither Serpil Koparan nor Minikgunesparcam are associations we can not collect donations for these dogs. But the supporters can pay the bill for the operation and for the other expanses related to the operation. As it is so hard to even find or buy food for the street animals these days, almost all the animal care-givers in Turkey are going through hell. There are days when we wonder if we will find any food at all. Turkey is going through an extraordinary bad financial crisis.
